The history of philosophy might be something worth talking about after all. I mean, it's been difficult for me to take the ideas of historical figures in philosophy seriously because if their thoughts were pre-enlightenment, it just seems to me that they wouldn't have much to say on that matter that would be relevant to those of us living in a post enlightenment technologically driven world. I mean, It's taken me years to begin to understand how they could even begin to think as they did about atoms and the void or water being the essence of all being or some magical realm of ideas where all of the real things exist while the real things that exist in this world are but ephemeral shadows of that ultimate reality.
