Faculty Teaching Support

This guide is intended to introduce faculty to the teaching support services available through the FIU Law Library.

Teaching Support

Research Instruction for Law Classes:
Professional librarians will come into your classroom and introduce students to library resources designed specifically for the classes you are teaching.  The librarians will explain what resources are available and how to use them effectively.  This includes both print and electronic resources.

To take advantage of this service, please contact any member of the library staff to schedule.

LibGuides:
ResearchGuides are a conduit to the most relevant library resources to your area of study. These guides are created by FIU law librarians and contain recommended library resources – books, databases, journals, websites, and helpful research tips.  Research Guides for general and specific needs can be be made at the suggestion of Law Faculty.  Let a librarian know if you want to request a guide to be prepared by the library.

PERCS:
Suggest to law students that they make an appointment with a librarian for a PERC or personal research consultation to get reference and research assistance one-on-one.

Course Reserves

Have supplemental materials or resources for students in your class?  Arrange to have those materials placed on Course Reserve in the law library.

Course Reserves is a simple method of guaranteeing students have equal access to materials or resources for the duration of the class.  The materials are placed on reserve at the beginning of each semester and remain there until the end of the semester.  Generally, materials placed on course reserve are checked out for 2 hours.

Please note that materials on Course Reserve are only available when the library desk is staffed.

If you have questions or need assistance, contact any library staff member.
