The first thing you need to do is to decide what it is you really want to do—whether it is for the summer, the next few years, or for the rest of your life.  In a competitive job market, just wanting to be lawyer is not enough to give you the edge. You need a plan.

There are many resources throughout the FIU libraries. This guide is intended to assist law students in career planning, job searching, interviewing skills, resume writing and more. 

In addition to books found in the FIU Libraries, there are a number of useful web resources available at your fingertips on career planning, job searching, and lawyering skills.  This guide is intended to assist law students in career planning, job searching, and making effective use of summer associate experience. Practising lawyers, paralegals, and other legal professionals may find it useful.
