Canvas Support

How to turn on and extend Canvas course beyond official semester dates.

Canvas courses become visible to students the first day of the semester by default. In order to turn your course on for students to view prior to the start of the semester, follow these steps:

As Instructor of record, email canvashelp@fiu.edu with the following information:

  • Subject of Email: Request for early access to Canvas for Students LAW#### 
  • Email Body: Make request for early access to Canvas for students in body of email. Specify time extensions of access (prior to semester start and/or after semester end dates).
    • Provide the course prefix, number and section (ex: LAW 6400 U01 Spring 2021)
    • Provide the desired start date.
    • Provide the desired end date.

NOTE:

  • Only content that is published in Canvas will be viewable on the desired start date provided.
  • Extensions close in time to the official semester start and end dates will be accommodated without further review.
  • Extensions beyond a few weeks in time to the official semester start and end dates will be reviewed.

Remote Teach Ready Badge

The Remote Teach Ready Badge (RTR) provides FIU professors training in Canvas tools necessary to successfully teach remotely. The Badge can be received by signing up for a live session or taking the asynchronous course.
